9.2/10 stinky bananas
X-Men: First Class is an exceptional reboot to a beloved franchise. It's better than any of the X-Men movies that came before it.
They fucking nailed the recasting of the original characters. James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence are both great as Professor X and Mystique. The best of them all is Michael Fassbender. He is unbelievable as Magneto. I would've never guessed someone could come close to touching Ian McKellen's performance, but Fassbender may have him beat.
Kevin Bacon is excellent as the antagonist. I don't know why, but Kevin Bacon is great at being a smug asshole. Maybe it's his face.
There are so many awesome scenes in this movie, and I'm going to list my favourites in point form because I want to and I can:
Magneto hunting down Nazi's fucking rules, the bar scene in particular is incredible.
Assembling the mutants is great (Wolverine cameo is iconic).
The Hellfire Club invading the CIA compound is an excellent piece of superpowered action.
Training montage is fun.
The final act is fucking fantastic, Magneto goes on a tear:
Magneto lifts the sub out of the water
Magneto kills Kevin Bacon with a Nazi coin
Magneto reverses the missiles on the Americans and Soviets
X-Men: First Class is an excellent movie. Don't be dumb, just go watch it.
