The new Fantastic Four movie is... dare I say it... fantastic. I loved just about everything about it.
The retro-futuristic look is great. It's a fun, new aesthetic for the MCU and it was executed to perfection. The score is great. FANTASTIC FOOOOOOOUUUURRR! The pace is great. The movie does not skip a beat. The cast is great. Everything from their performances to their look is damn near perfect, especially Sue and Galactus. They took the two major weak points from the 2000s Fantastic Four movies and made them a strength. Do you remember how bad Jessica Alba was in those movies? Yuck. I'm not saying it was all her fault. The writing in those movies wasn't great. And Galactus was a stormy cloud? Yikes. Garbage decision. The two main action sequences we do get in the movie are awesome. Super intense. Sue going bezerk and pushing Galactus is a... fantastic moment. The writing is sharp. The movie has a perfectly good story with strong dialogue and a few laughs.
My favourite part of the movie has to be Galactus. A truly terrifying villain. The MCU has a tendency to produce some poopy villains, but they knocked this one out of the park. Two thumbs up!
Anyway, Fantastic Four: First Steps is worth the price of admission. Try to catch this one on the big screen. MCU is back. baby! See ya.
