That Thing You Do! is a stroke of genius from the great Mr. Tom Hanks. He wrote and directed it. And it was his first time doing either. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

Simply put, it's a great movie with a good story and good characters. Who would've thunk the story of a one-hit wonder band would be interesting? Not me, but Tom Hanks pulls it off.

I love the setting. There are lots of great scenes and great performances, but I don't want to talk about any of that. I want to talk about Howard Shore. Who is that, you may ask? My response to that is, get your head out of your ass. He is a Canadian national treasure. He is not only responsible for the hit song that can be heard in this film, but he is more famously known for composing the music for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is a master of his craft. His name should be known on a universal level. I feel strongly about this.
