6.6/10 stinky bananas
It's fun. It's not close to as good as the original, but it's a passable remake.
There is some horrific acting from almost everybody in the cast. The one exception is fucking Conor McGregor. He steals the show. My eyes were glued to him for every second of screen time he had. I would watch a spinoff movie based off of his character, no question. McGregor changes the entire complexion of the movie as soon as he's introduced; the first half of the movie without him is borderline dogshit.
The action scenes and the fighting choreography is great. McGregor didn't disappoint in his field of expertise. The fights are intense and they look authentic.
The filmmakers deviated significantly from the original. They deviated so much that they could've just slapped another name on the movie and nobody would've noticed that it was a remake. I'm not angry about it, but if I did have a problem, it would be with Dalton. I'm not sure what Gyllenhaal was trying to do with the character but he came off as a weirdo turned psycho killer. He ruthlessly murders a henchman, watches him drown, and then puts his body on ice. I can't figure that one out. Big time psycho move.
Where was the throat rip? You can't call it Road House without having a damn throat rip. A McGregor throat rip would've been mind-blowing.
Go watch this movie just to see McGregor's brilliance.
