4.4/10 stinky bananas
Not good. It's the worst MCU movie I've seen in a long time.
Captain America 4 is written like a CSI: Miami episode. So fucking choppy. David Caruso could've delivered a better performance than Anthony Mackie with this shit script. In fact, you should've subbed in the whole CSI: Miami cast. The acting is subpar at best. Whose daughter was that woman agent? She's a god awful actress. How did she get this job? Her shoulders are damn near touching her ear lobes.
In comparison to the other Cap movies, the action is bad. It doesn't look good. Way too much CGI. Think about the scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier where Cap fights the Winter Soldier for the first time, it's all hand-to-hand combat. Just two guys beating the absolute piss out of each other. Now, this Cap is fucking flying around, shooting guys with his robot birds, exploding people with his vibranium wings, and sticking the hulk with vibranium feathers. It just feels too gimmicky at this point. After watching this movie, I honestly feel like this version of Captain America is better suited as a secondary character in an ensemble movie. That's not a bad thing, I just don't see him as a Thor / Iron Man / Cap level character leading the charge against a Thanos level villain.
Why is Liv Tyler a plot point in this movie? She hasn't been relevant in the MCU for almost 20 years. Who the hell still cares about that character? She wasn't even a memorable part of the one movie she was in. Such weak and sloppy writing. The villain stinks too. His whole thing is being smart, yet his master plan gets foiled by this Captain America? Pathetic.
I know I just trashed the fuck out of the movie, but it isn't all bad. It does have some decent action sequences and the red hulk is cool. It's far from unwatchable, but it doesn't come close to meeting the standard the MCU has set for itself.
I watched this movie so you don't have to. You're welcome.
