Pretty pretty pretty pretty good. Lots to like about this one. Couple things to hate.

Mark Wahlberg sticks out like a sore thumb. Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and the mom act circles around this guy. I like Marky Mark but my lord, the guy was a stick in the mud in this movie. I’m a thousand percent certain that they only casted him because his body is passable as a boxer, but that is the one and only reason.

The boxing action is bad. You can’t be a boxing movie and have bad boxing action. The last fight is pretty good but the rest is crap. The Sanchez fight was terrible. Sanchez stands completely still and eats a body shot then drops to his knees like he pooped himself. And then they give it the slo-mo instant replay treatment and it looks extra bad. Tough look for a boxing movie.

What else is there to say about Christian Bale. He is the man. Maybe the best actor of our time. He kills it every time. Amy Adams is a top tier actress. She is also killing the game. The mom (Melissa Leo) is very good in this one and should be noted. Just like that. I just noted her performance (credit to me).

Perfect rating by me. It is definitely an 8.8/10, anybody that says otherwise is wrong and is probably on drugs. Put those people in jail and throw away the key.
