8.8/10 stinky bananas

Joaquin Phoenix nails it in this Joker origin story. Director Todd Phillips gives us a new take on the Clown Prince of Crime, and frankly it was refreshing, especially after that Jared Leto monstrosity.

Contrary to popular opinion, I did like the inclusion of mental illness as a main theme of the film. It made the Joker rooted in reality rather than some crazy psycho that would never exist in a non-comic book world.

As per usual with Todd Phillips, there were a few laugh out loud funny scenes. The best one being when Arthur has to open the door for the little person after murdering his friend. Not a great description, but I don't care.

That fraud site Rotten Tomatoes is way off on this one, go watch this movie.
