7.5/10 stinky bananas

Solid movie. Spielberg gives the people what they want in this one. He plays the hits. He runs back the nazi storyline and tosses in lots of classic Indy action.

I got two gripes with this film. 1. Sean Connery sucks in this movie. I don’t like his character at all. Very annoying. 2. I don’t care about the holy grail. The quest didn’t do it for me in this one. And the finale with the guy growing old and dying seemed like a bad remake of the face melting from the first movie.

What I did love, outside of the typical Indiana Jones greatness, was the opening River Phoenix scene. River was a perfect young Harrison Ford. He was a way better addition to the cast than Sean Connery. It was an all around great opening sequence and it primes you for the action to come.

If you saw the first two, may as well keep going and watch this one too. You probably don’t have anything better to do anyway.
